| I have modified 4 files for this mod which will end the constant changing back and forth between blinded and not blinded when using the drow elf or drow half elf options. Should anyone wish to try them let me know and I'll email them to you. |

| If you like, email them to me at icelus1_at_pocketplane.net and I'll try to incorporate them into the mod with a re-release. |

Beiht,
I followed of the instructions on the readme and installed the files and this has fixed the bug for me too. I tested this by loading a previous game (PC is half-drow). The Magic Resistance for him at level 9 Barbarian is 90 so this shows that the fix requires a new game for it to work 100% (I assume that the 90 was my previous MR plus the changed figure from the fix, the MR is correct on a new game, 35MR at lvl7).
As for drow-npc dialogs...I would imagine they would be heavily reliant on reputation, as drow would be judged on appearance and deeds. For example, almost all commoners would be hostile to drow who have low reputations or are unknown, as shown by Viconia's burning attempt in the game. Maybe some would call the guards. However with a high reputation, 13+, quite a lot except certain narrow--minded groups (nobles? paladins/priests?) would at least suffer a drow to walk amongst them, albeit distrustful of him/her. 17+ - people in awe of good deeds and feeling admiration/pity for the drow.
As for more specific encounters...
-Maybe kidnapped in Temple District by Helm followers and given Unseeing Eye quest (reward is you get to keep your life )
-More negative reaction at De'Arnise Keep
-If half-drow, in underdark initially feared by duergar, then almost ignored (once found out to be half-drow). Obviously would not be treated as slave in Ust'Natha due to the disguise.
-Expanded options for drow/half-drow characters in underdark? Gain Fighting Society as stronghold? Perhaps could create a ring that would allow teleporting to/from the Underdark to allow this to work.
I realise I'm digressing, I just would really like to see a full implementation of a drow mod with correct consequences and reactions as a result.
I'll do some research on the subject of drow encounter reactions with others and see if I can find anything of use. _________________ ---

| taevus, Thanks for the input. I have been thinking about the possibility of a drow mod. The teleporting ring is an interesting idea. One saw a lot of them in Morrowind but I don't know of any in BG2. |

Ring summons an imp which tele's you? Perhaps that is easier? I'm 100% positive that its possible for this to happen somehow on BG2. _________________ ---

Taevus,
I agree that it can be done and fairly easily (its all relative, right). One could make the ring or other item conversant, the dialog would set a variable associated with one of a few preset destinations and then initiate a script to teleport all. For that matter the dialog actions might be able to handle it. It could also grow in the number of options as the pc visits more places.
My previous comment was that I just haven't seen it, not that it couldn't be done.
Thanks for the thought. |

I think it was Demon Lord who was working on a Drow mod before. But the project was abandon due to everyone else disapearing. You might want to find him and see if he has is old notes. _________________ "Who--who are you?"

Taevus has done some testing and has discovered another problem with the original files. The fix for this will increase the number of modified files from 4 to about 40. These will be ready in a couple of days.
Thanks Taevus.

Sorry if it sounded that way. I was just thinking that if a possible mod was to be made by Beiht that there might be a larger generation of interest somewhere where there aren't as many subforums as here. Plus since this mod wouldnt be a CoM-made mod (I guess), maybe its wrong to talk about it here (as we're digressing from the subrace mod a little).
It was a foolish remark made empty-headed and I would like to express my respect for all of Chosen of Mystra's work and the hard effort that must go into it. _________________ ---
