Lord Roenall wont die.
I've let him have his little speech - "pathetic peasant etc."
And (aftr a number of conventional attempts)
used CNTRL Y - to no effect, apart from reducing him to near death.

The only thing I've done which might have had an effect on his conduct is to lay snare traps beforehand, which seems perfectly legit since it's my castle and I know I'm going to be attacked!!

A bug? Or am I missing something?

(Either way it makes a nice change from the orignal attack.)

If you have a savegame before the attack, try summoning a demon on those traps to trigger them. The traps seem to be the problem.

Thanks. Removed all traps. Still no luck.

Exact sequence.

(F/M/T) Cast Stoneskin, Rest, talk to major domo, cut scene of keep, "they are attacking"
rush outside
cast Similacrum from helmet, then summon two "Improved Spider Figurines", Cast Haste, Drink invisibility potion.

Close with attckers, spiders V archers me v L. Roenall. Backstab. He gives speech "pathetic peasant"

CNTRL Y CNTRL Y on Roenall -- effect as before. i.e. he still alive.

Not much cheese there apart from the extra spider.

Maybe wait till he triggers a talk and attack him when your guards do so. All you need to kill is lord himself and in my games he dies very fast.

and if that doesn't work, I'd advise casting time stop+shape change mind flayer.

One thing I'm guessing is one of the Lord's items has been over written with one that prevents your HP from droping to 0.

I think the problem is that you attack hime BEFORE he triggers his talk.

Many thanks for all your help.
At wrost I'll simply rename/delete the AR... file in the override directory, that way I can continue with the game.

I think the basic idea of a proper fight for the keep is wonderful, but perhaps it could be extended a bit.
Whenever you see a guy in green armour with a suspicious sword 10-1 he's evil.... and all the baddies have good swords and armour, decent wizards.

Why shouldn't we spend some of our cash on hiring decent fighters.

Perhaps let us attack castle Roenall (the Gnoll stronghold from BG! ??) or prolong the fight, archers on the walls etc. Then a sally.

Just a thought, I'm sure we'll find a solution to this problem sooner or later. Now I'm off to Brynlaw... and the Asylum. I can't wait.
